Sorah Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Verses Number 26

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ ( 1 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 1

Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ ( 2 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 2

Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ( 3 )

Labouring (hard), weary,-

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً ( 4 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 4

The while they enter the Blazing Fire,-

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ ( 5 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 5

The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ ( 6 )

No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari'

لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِن جُوعٍ ( 7 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 7

Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ( 8 )

(Other) faces that Day will be joyful,

لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ ( 9 )

Pleased with their striving,-

فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ( 10 )

In a Garden on high,

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً ( 11 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 11

Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ ( 12 )

Therein will be a bubbling spring:

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ ( 13 )

Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high,

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ ( 14 )

Goblets placed (ready),

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ ( 15 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 15

And cushions set in rows,

وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ ( 16 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 16

And rich carpets (all) spread out.

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ ( 17 )

Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-

وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ ( 18 )

And at the Sky, how it is raised high?-

وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ ( 19 )

And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-

وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ ( 20 )

And at the Earth, how it is spread out?

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ( 21 )

Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.

لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ ( 22 )

Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ ( 23 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 23

But if any turn away and reject Allah,-

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ ( 24 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 24

Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ ( 25 )

Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Ayaa 25

For to Us will be their return;

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم ( 26 )

Then it will be for Us to call them to account.
