Sorah Al-Layl ( The Night )

Sorah Al-Layl ( The Night ) - Verses Number 21

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ ( 1 )

By the Night as it conceals (the light);

وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ ( 2 )

By the Day as it appears in glory;

وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَىٰ ( 3 )

By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;-

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ ( 4 )

Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse.

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ ( 5 )

So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah),

وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ ( 6 )

And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,-

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ( 7 )

We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss.

وَأَمَّا مَن بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ ( 8 )

But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient,

وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ ( 9 )

And gives the lie to the best,-

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ ( 10 )

We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery;

وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ ( 11 )

Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit).

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ ( 12 )

Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide,

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ ( 13 )

And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning.

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ ( 14 )

Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely;

لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى ( 15 )

None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones

الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ( 16 )

Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs.

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى ( 17 )

But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,-

الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ ( 18 )

Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification,

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ ( 19 )

And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return,

إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ ( 20 )

But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High;

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ ( 21 )

And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction.

Rules Governing The Criticism Of HadithAn summarised text detailing the rules governing the Criticism of Hadeeth. From its introduction -'A hadith (pl. ahadith) is composed of two parts: the matn (text) and the isnad (chain of reporters). A text may seem to be logical and reasonable but it needs an authentic isnad with reliable reporters to be acceptable; 'Abdullah b. al-Mubarak (d. 181 AH) is reported to have said, "The isnad is part of the religion: had it not been for the isnad, whoever wished to would have said whatever he liked." During the lifetime of the Prophet (SAS) and after his death, his Companions (Sahabah) used to refer to him when quoting his sayings. The Successors (Tabi'un) followed suit; some of them used to quote the Prophet (SAS) through the Companions while others would omit the intermediate authority - such a hadith was known as mursal (loose). It was found that the missing link between the Successor and the Prophet (SAS) might be one person, i.e. a Companion, or two persons, the extra person being an older Successor who heard the hadith from the Companion.'
